The Bow back Side Chair was first introduced in Philadelphia in the 1780's during the Federal Period. They were the First style to be mass produced for families. They were built in sets of 12 or 24 or more. These chairs have endured as a simple country chair from the past. Our bow backs are hand made with a squared bow and a single carved beading.
